.ASIA domain names with IDN in 2010
.ASIA domain names with IDN
The .ASIA Registry (DotAsia) has announced plans to release Internationalised Domain Name (IDN) for .ASIA domain names. Registrations will start in the second half of 2010. Until now it has only been possible to register .ASIA domain names with the Latin characters (a-z, 0-9), but it is expected that any Asian character set will be possible to use. Priority will be given for existing alphanumeric domain holders. We will keep you informed when the launch dates are published.
IDN popularity at its highest
IDN is the buzz word in the domain industry at the moment. ICANN allowed for non-Latin characters on Oct 30 for any country code domain, which makes it possible for any country to use their own character set. Russia has already started the queue for .РФ - the Cyrillic domain planned to be the main domain for Russian Internet users. At the moment only trademark holders can apply. Many other countries have applied for their own top level domain. Countries include Egypt, Ukraine and Tunesia.
If you have a Russian trademark you can apply for your .РФ by inserting the .XN--p1ai domain below. .XN--p1ai represents .РФ.
